Charlie Davies (the self proclaimed "World's best kept secret in football) made his Ligue 1 debut on Saturday night for his new club FC Sochaux-Montbliard coming in as a sub in the 70th min. His club already leading Auxerre 0-1 on a goal by the Czech striker Sverkos, Charlie came close late in the half but ended the game goalless. Regardless, an important away win for Les Lionceaux who finished 14th out of 20 teams last year in the top division.
From the Ligue 1 site: "The young American's blistering pace and tight ball control earned him several chances in the dying minutes and showed that he could well be one of L1's most promising foreign stars."
Sochaux open their home campaign next weekend against last year's champion Bordeaux on Saturday but Charlie is already in Miami working out with the US team in prep for Wednesday's qualifier.
UPDATE 8/11: Video!!!! From 2:28 on is the Charlie Davies show.
I see no reason that Charlie can't lead the Creme Brulee league in scoring. I guess his own manager could stop him by NOT STARTING CHARLIE HUSTLE.
