Jozy Altidore joins Hull City

American striker Jozy Altidore has joined English Premiership surprise package Hull City on a season long loan from Spain's Villarreal.
Altidore had a frustrating campaign in Spain last season but was impressive nevertheless for the USA during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa.
He expressed the desire to play regularly in the top flight in preparation for his side's ambitions at the 2010 World Cup, and Hull were quickest to claiming the robust the 19-year-old's signature.
The American international told Hull City's official website that he is looking forward to the chance to impress on English soil.
"I'm very excited about the prospect of playing for Hull City," said Altidore. "Hull City is a good club, up and coming, and to have the opportunity to play for them in the Premier League is a great thing.
"I'm sure it will take a little while to get used to being here, but hopefully I will be a success here.
He added: "I'm a huge follower of the English Premier League. Most people think this is the best league in the world and my opinion is no different.
"There are so many great players and teams here. Anybody who is anybody would like to get the chance to play here and experience it."
With work permit granted, the young forward says his aim for the new season is progression, both on a personal and team level.
"I think of myself as quite a physical player but I can be graceful too. I like having the ball at my feet and running at people," he continued. "I'm still very young and there are a lot of things I still need to find out about myself in terms of playing. Hopefully that will come.
"I want to help Hull City progress. It's the same for me and this is going to be a great experience.
"The intensity of the game over here is second to none and every game is played in a great atmosphere. I'm going to be giving my all for the club and the most important thing I can do is work hard. I want to introduce myself to the Hull City fans in a positive way and get them on my side early."
Altidore has since reported for international duty with the USA ahead of their World Cup Qualifier against Mexico on Wednesday night
